Earlier in the week the News editor for today sent out a message so that we were all clear what we were assigned to do for the Newsday. I found this helpful as I then had someone to ask advice on for my role on Features and for the story I wanted to focus on this week.
It meant that today I was able to work on a feature outside of the Newsroom, which is something I feel lucky to do as I could focus directly on my story without any distractions. I have been interested in doing a feature on Remembrance Day as many people have become aware that there is a growing controversy and tension starting to rise about the topic, especially around the wearing of poppies.

When starting the story, I had a few things in mind including collecting thoughts from Falmouth residents about how they feel about Remembrance Day, and what it means to them. It was interesting to see the difference between the older and younger generation. The more digging I did the more I started to find out about the events that are happening around Falmouth in aid of the Poppy appeal, one that interested me was a charity ball and auction happening tomorrow (26th) of October at the Falmouth Hotel. I emailed to find out more about the event.
